Paramedic Emergency Skills Program (PESP)
Ontario Paramedic Training Program Coordinators
The AOM offers two workshop options to integrate the updated ALS PCS emergency childbirth medical directives into your paramedic education curriculum. Either workshop will provide you with a seamless transition of new graduates trained in emergency childbirth skills, ready for employment/base hospital certification. Please view our brochure with pricing details and testimonials, as well as a sample chapter of the PESP Manual.
Workshop 1: Train-the-Trainer Workshop
Used by the Ontario Base Hospital Group (OBHG) and is highly praised by the Paramedic Educators. This workshop runs in a 1:4 ratio; 1 expert midwife instructor to 4 college faculty educators, with a minimum of 8 educators to a maximum of 20. Expert midwife instructors will come directly to your educational facility, train your faculty educators on the new curriculum, all the while empowering them to deliver this interactive, hands-on workshop to their students. A pre-workshop curriculum presentation, PESP Instructor Handbook and Manual will be made available prior to the workshop. In doing this full-day workshop, schools are expected to provide all the necessary equipment, and faculty educators will need to recertify with the AOM every 2 years to maintain their PESP Designated Instructor status.
Workshop 2: Student Workshop
This workshop runs in a 1:6 ratio; 1 expert midwife instructor to 6 paramedic students, with a minimum of 12 students and a maximum of 30. Expert midwife instructors will come directly to your educational facility, and bring all the necessary equipment and training material with them. A pre-workshop curriculum presentation and PESP Manual will be made available prior to the workshop. At this full-day workshop our expert midwife instructors will teach the new curriculum directly to the paramedic students through hands-on demonstrations and role-playing simulated childbirth emergencies.
Should you prefer the Train-the-Trainer Workshop, we encourage you to collaborate with the schools in your area to collectively host a training day in order to meet the minimum quantity of 8 faculty educators per workshop.
In addition, the AOM is offering two Train-the-Trainer workshops in our office for educators from any school to attend. All necessary equipment and educational materials will be provided by the AOM. Travel, Accommodations, and Meals will not be provided.
